Encounter Our Vision:
To be an intercultural & intergenerational Christian family that seeks to reach the lost & empower them to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
You see, we come to God as we are, with the understanding that He won’t leave us where we are.
Encounter Our Mission:
To ENCOUNTER God and EMPOWER people to ENGAGE the communities we live in with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We can only give what we have. You see, we must continually go vertical with the Father in order to go horizontal with each other in community.
Encounter Our Values
AWE & WONDER (Devoted Worship): Expressed by a lifestyle that Encounters & glorifies God through a daily and consistent life of prayer, praise, thankfulness, & obedience to Him.We expect to experience the power and presence of Christ when we gather. Acts 2:42-47
DIFFERENT IS BEAUTIFUL (Diverse Family): Expressed by an environment of authentic relationships through a willingness to worship and live together with a culture not one’s own regardless of race, gender, age, and past. We are stronger, better and more beautiful because of our diversity. Galatians 3:28
HEALTHY THINGS GROW (Powerful Transformation): Expressed by a genuine desire to know, think, and be like Jesus, which is demonstrated by a daily and consistent study of the word of God (the Bible), prayer, & worship. We believe spiritual formation creates health, health leads to growth and we cannot accomplish our mission without both. 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:8-10
WOULD SHE WEEP? (Engaging Presence): Expressed by a continual passion to be engaged in the life of the church and the community. We want to love and serve our city so well she would mourn if we were gone.
Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 10:45
Encounter Our Beliefs
At the Heart of Everything We Do
The Bible: We believe the Bible is God-inspired and is our ultimate authority. (II Timothy 3:16-17)
The Eternal Godhead: We believe God is Triune: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (II Corinthians 13:14)
The Fall of Man: We believe that man was created in the image of God, but by voluntary disobedience fell from perfection. (Romans 5:12)
The Plan of Salvation: We believe that while we were still sinners Christ died for us, signing the pardon of all who believe in Him. (John 3:16; Romans 5:8)
Salvation Through Grace: We believe that we have no righteousness and must come to God by receiving the righteousness of Christ. (Ephesians 2:8)
Repentance and Acceptance: We believe that upon sincere repentance, and a whole-hearted acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God. In this, we make the willful decision to obey Jesus' command to be baptized. (I John 1:9)
Water Baptism: We believe that baptism is a sign and seal of God's covenant of grace with us. Baptism is the visible word of God that we are cleansed in Christ's blood, buried with him unto death, that we might rise with him and walk in newness of life. In this, Jesus calls us all to repent & be baptized. (Romans 6:4, 10:9; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38, 8:36-38; Galatians 3:26-27)
The New Birth: We believe that the change which takes place in the heart and life at conversion is both a real and a discernible one. (II Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20)
Daily Christian Life: We believe that it is the will of God that we be sanctified daily, growing constantly in faith by praying, studying the Bible (Old & New Testament), worship, & remaining faithful. (Hebrews 6:1)
The Lord’s Supper: We believe in the commemoration of Christ’s death through the partaking of bread and the juice of the vine; representing His body and blood offered for our salvation on a weekly basis. (I Corinthians 11:24-25)
